It's been three months? Where are we?
I haven't updated the blog recently just because there hasn't been much of an update. We have been working tirelessly to finish our home study which let me just take a moment to say WE ARE SO CLOSE TO BEING FINISHED!!! We have one more visit (that will be done through skype because of covid-19) in less than two weeks. So while we have been completing all of the appointments, all of the paper work, all of the education and training we have also been working hard on fundraising. Once we finish our home study, then we get to apply for our I-800A. Which is kind of a small step but also a big deal. This is our approval from the US to bring a child into this country. The home study has been a long process but it is so exciting to feel like we are almost getting to move forward to another part of the process. We met with our social worker last week, which by the way we couldn't have hand picked a better social worker for us. I'm just sure she is the best. We were nervous and excited to meet her. This is someone we will be seeing during our home study and for two years after we bring our child home for post adoption visits. We have already had two visits with her and we both look forward to seeing her when she comes.
We plan to apply for grants as soon as we are home study approved. We have been told that those can be pretty hit or miss but we are hopeful we can get approved on a few of them. I hate that I don't have much more of an update but I am glad to know that we are so close to being finished with our home study which is the first big thing that takes several months. One more thing to check off the list that brings us closer to our childs homecoming!!
Fundraising Update-
Here is our puzzle piece chart currently. If I counted correctly we have sold 101 pieces of our 300 piece puzzle. I can't believe it. I know I've said it before but fundraising has been hard for me. I really do not enjoy it. It makes me uncomfortable. It's a lot of work. It takes time away from my kids. It forces me to do things I wouldn't do other wise. It has just been challenging but there has been so much goodness from it. I mean, the way each of you have stepped up and supported our family just blows me away. I just stop and think about how I can't believe people would do this for our family. It's so humbling. We are so thankful. I said this to someone else but I wanted to share with everyone. Sometimes just saying thank you seems so insignificant. I feel like I say it so much that it takes away from the authenticity of the meaning but, we really are just so thankful that people step in and support our family through this process. It has taught me so much about generosity and the way we love others. Our family has been overwhelmed by the love. I want to share the totals for the last few fundraisers we have had. This is purely to show what the Lord has done through each of you.
Since starting our fundraising in November we have raised right at $10,000.
I just can't believe it. Scripture says "immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine". That is more than I could have asked for or imagined. So thank you guys!
T-Shirt Fundraiser $1,000 - guys, we made $1,000 selling t-shirts! Wow!
Elderberry Syrup Fundraiser - $510 - side story to this one. I considered doing this but I felt uncomfortable selling MORE stuff. I didn't want to be the girl constantly selling things on my social media page so I told myself I wasn't going to do it. Then a friend (thanks Ashley) suggested that I make elderberry syrup to sell for fundraising. I told her my thoughts on why I hadn't done it and she gave me the little boost of encouragement that I needed to make it happen. Selling elderberry alone paid for our psychological evaluations. What a blessing!!
Super Bowl Cookies $200
Valentine's Cookies $1,045 --- oh my word. I still can't believe that number!
We had someone that we didn't even know give us several pieces of furniture to sell at our upcoming fundraising yard sale. I decided to go ahead and post some of it to see if I could sell it (mostly to make room in our garage) before the actual yard sale! As of right now we have made $465 with two more pieces of furniture left to sell. You guys, a stranger, someone that we do not know, someone that has never met our family reached out and GAVE us this furniture to sell. These are the things that just bring tears to my eyes. I'm so thankful for the way the Lord uses people.
We currently are preparing for two more fundraisers. Our fundraising yard sale on April 4th (Lord willing) and our Egg your yard fundraiser! We are looking forward to each of these and praying we are able to do each one.
We have two big fees coming up and I'm so thankful to say that the money is already there in our fundraising account. Typing this with tears in my eyes... Thank you! He is faithful.
AGENCY FEE B $3,562.50
I-800A Fee $945.00
I can't wait to update you all again. As always, thank you for praying for us thank you for supporting us and thank you for loving us!
With love,
Whitney
